The areas of majors are offered as follows: Biblical Studies,\nTheological Studies, Church History, Apologetics, Christian Education and\nChristian Counseling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Graduates of Master of Theology are able to serve the Christian community as competent\nBible expositors who are qualified to serve God effectively as pastors,\nmissionaries, or leaders in other areas of vocational Christian ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>Prerequisites<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Possess a Master of Divinity degree or its equivalent from an approved\nseminary with accumulative grade point average of 2.0 or above.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>OR<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Possess a Bachelor of Theology degree or its equivalent from an approved\nseminary with accumulative grade point average of 2.0 or above. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>Degree Requirements<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Successfully complete a minimum of <strong><em>72 quarter units<\/em><\/strong> of coursework with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.<\/li><li>\u00a0Successfully complete 28 quarter units of unrestricted electives or alternative electives.<\/li><li>\u00a0Successfully complete 8 quarters of Master\u2019s thesis project. <\/li><li>Successfully complete 36 quarter units of common core courses<\/li><li>\u00a0Successfully complete the degree requirements within the time limit.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>Time Limit<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Master of Theology program must be completed <strong><em>within 3 years<\/em><\/strong> from the time the student commenced the first course, as a regular student, which applies to the degree requirements. This time limit, at the option of the university, may be extended due to special extenuating circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Master of\nTheology<\/strong><strong><em>&#8211;\n<\/em><\/strong><em>Suggested\nCore Classes<\/em><strong><em><\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>BBL 113 Pentateuch (4 quarter units)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A biblical and theological analysis of God\u2019s\ncovenantal administration of his kingdom during the period covered by the\nPentateuch. Study of the emergence and formation of the Old Testament Canon.\nSurvey of the content and higher criticism of the books of the Pentateuch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BB<strong>L 115 New Testament Interpretation (4 quarter units)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">General introduction and hermeneutics; historical,\ncultural and religious background; the language and translation of the New\nTestament; textual criticism; the theological reason of the New Testament; the\nNew Testament books as canon; the principles and practice of New Testament\nExegesis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BB<strong>L 117 Doctrine of the Holy Spirit (4 quarter units)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Common grace; the ordo salutis; union with Christ;\ncalling; regeneration; faith and repentance; assurance of salvation;\njustification; adoption; sanctification; perseverance; the means of Grace; the\ncoming of Christ and the end of the age. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>BBL 119 Doctrine of Christ (4 quarter units)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Plan of salvation; covenant of Grace; person and\noffices of Christ; the atonement; Christ\u2019s humiliation and exaltation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>BBL 140 Biblical Hermeneutics (4 quarter units)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Presentation of the general principles necessary\nof a sound interpretation of scripture and the special principles governing the\ninterpretation of such subjects as poetry prophecy, typology and parables. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>BBL 152 Theological Bibliography (4 quarter units)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An introduction to tools for use in biblical and\ntheological study. Including: encyclopedias, monographs, periodicals,\nbibliographical texts. Course includes emphasis upon hands-on experience with\ncomputerized bibliographical and research tools. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>BBL 211 Historical Books (4 quarter units)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Special introduction to the historical books of the\nOld Testament, exegesis of selected passages, development of\nbiblical-theological themes, and study of the history of Israel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>BBL 244 Acts and Pauline Epistles (4 quarter units)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Question of special introduction; the Origin and\nexpansion of New Testament Church; the theology of Luke \u2013 Acts; the Theology of\nPaul. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>BBL 311 General Epistles and Revelation (4 quarter units)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Questions of special introduction: exegesis of selected\npassages with a view to establishing the structure and distinctive themes of\nthese books. Special attention is given to Hebrew, I Peter, and Revelation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>BBL 324 Prophetical Books (4 quarter units)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The nature and history of the prophetic institution\nin Israel. Introduction and exegesis of selected passages, with special\nattention to the messianic theme and eschatological patterns. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>CSL 261 Counseling Orientation (4 quarter units)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An introduction to the theory and methodology of\nChristian Counseling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>CHC 112 The Ancient Church (4 quarter units)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A study of the developing theology, ecclesiology,\npiety, and worship of the Christian church from the close of the apostolic age\nto 600 A.D. special attention will be given to primary sources. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>CHC 200 The Christian Life (4 quarter units)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ethics as application of Scripture to all of life;\nSurvey of non-Christian approaches to ethnics; the general structure of\nChristian ethics; relation of divine law to present circumstances and inward\ndispositions; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">applications of biblical principles to contemporary\nissues, following the order of the Decalogue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>CHD 115 History of Christian Doctrines (4 quarter units)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Summary of the biblical world and life view; the\nword of God, revelation, and inspirations; \u201cknowing\u201d and \u201cthinking\u201d as\nresponses to God\u2019s word; the radical difference between Christian and\nnon-Christian thinking; nature and methods of Theology and apologetics;\nprocedures for dealing with difficulties in the Christian faith. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>LNG 101 Greek I (4 quarter units)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Intensive instruction in New Testament Greek with\nemphasis upon morphology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>LNG 102 Hebrew I (4 quarter units)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A study of basic grammar and vocabulary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>LNG 103 Greek II (4 quarter units)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The course presumes the work of Greek I or\nequivalent knowledge of Greek. Morphology determined by a placement examination.\nInstruction introduces intermediate Greek syntax, vocabulary and some advanced\nMorphology through the reading of selected passages in the Greek New Testament.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>LNG 104 Hebrew II (4 quarter units)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Continuation of the grammar and vocabulary study from\nHebrew I. Reading of Hebrew prose and introduction to the Masoretic text.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>LNG 105 Greek III (4 quarter units)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This course requires the work of Greek II.
